A bi-racial woman with dark brown and gray curly hair, smiling with a gray sweater on, beautiful makeup, in front of a lush green backdrop.

Hello.

I’m a strategic communications, marketing, and public relations specialist.

ABOUT JULIANNE

Communication has always been a passion. I find it fascinating that the right combination of words can inspire action, elicit emotions, and, ultimately, change the world.

I am a strategic leader, a creative communicator, and a problem solver.

I have 15 years of experience across diverse fields, including non-profit communications and fundraising, K-12 communications, higher education public relations and marketing, journalism, crisis communications, client service, project management, rebranding, and new product launches.

Here are some other skills I have...

  • I'm that friend who finds the typos in restaurant menus and signage. Typos are persistent little suckers, and they’re everywhere.

One of my favorite parts of writing is the editing. As a young journalist, I’d hover over my editor as they read my stories, waiting with every mouse click for their next tweak.

I'm not afraid of a good red pen; I'll happily edit your copy.

  • So. Many. Moving. Parts.

Logistics are what makes every event successful, whether a birthday party or a 300+ person event.

Scriptwriting, vendor coordination, catering, decor, guest relations, event marketing, check-in processes, and safety considerations are involved—and that's just the surface. We can't forget about the personal touches either.

From drafting minute-by-minute run-of-show documents to managing budgets and AV production crews, I can help you determine what you need to host the event of your dreams.

  • I love a good story.

One of the things I enjoy most is bringing attention to organizations doing great things. Stories of people doing incredible things should be shared and should reach millions.

A good story will capture attention and change perception. A good PR campaign results in measurable and actionable data.

I believe in the power of well-crafted talking points, mock interviews, and a nice outfit for when you’re on camera.

It's all about the message and what you want people to feel and believe about you and your brand.

Need to prep for an interview?

Want help picking out an outfit appropriate for on-camera interviews? Let’s work together!

  • If you clicked the previous drop-downs, you've probably noticed a theme.

    It's all about the writing.

Speechwriting is personal. There's a style to it, and it's not something that I believe is automatic.

I like to get to know the person for whom I'm writing speeches. I listen to their previous speeches and attend events where they speak. I pay attention to cadence, inflection, pacing, and pronunciation.

I also enjoy giving feedback on speeches. As an auditory learner, hearing what you plan to say helps me understand it.

Whether you want a listening ear or a speech for your next event, I’d love to help you deliver your message.

  • I am confident in front of a crowd, but it's taken me a while to get there.

What gets me by being on stage or in front of a TV camera is the opportunity to share something with people. Hopefully, it’s something new and inspiring.

I also have a lot to say (which is not surprising to anyone close to me), so, if you’re looking for someone to visit your classroom, serve on a panel to talk about any of the above expertise, or lead a workshop, we should chat.

  • OK. I'm going to be honest here.

I would like to think that I have an eye for what works for someone with very little graphic design experience (I know, I know).

When I have a vision, I partner with creatives to bring it to life -- praise them all.

So far in my career, I've been spoiled by working with incredible graphic designers, illustrators, and artists.

I mentioned that I notice typos in the editing section above, and I also notice slight updates to a brand’s logo or when the tone of their social content shifts.

I've led complete organization rebrands. I've set brand direction and strategy for fundraising campaigns, products, and non-profits.

Don't forget that behind every brand, there's a message. There’s very little brand work that happens without messaging.

What projects are you working on? How can I help?

I would like to join a high-performing team with a company that believes in the following:

  • Team before client, always

  • A “no-blame” work culture - demonstrated behaviors will drive client success

  • A taste for the best food - we’ve got to eat, so why not eat well?!

  • Honoring individual strengths and nurturing weaknesses

  • A good laugh

  • Spiritual and professional growth opportunities

  • Mental health days - somedays are just not our days, and that’s OK

  • A remote work environment, with trust that the work will not only get done but will be delivered with excellence

  • Quality time with self, family, friends, and pets
